NXP Semiconductors aims to double its headcount to more than 6,000 in India in the next five years, Aashish Aryan reports for The Economic Times, quoting the company’s CEO Kurt Sievers.
The hiring will be mainly for design engineers. The Netherlands-based company also plans to invest $1 billion over the next five years to boost its R&D capabilities in the country.
India is facilitating semiconductor training in colleges, and that has increased the availability of talent, says Sievers. This, in turn, allows companies like NXP Semiconductors to partner with these educational institutions and hire college graduates to develop skills early in their careers, he adds.
Additionally, the company is committed to promoting gender diversity by hiring more women in the future, the report adds.
