Business consulting and services emerged as the most common industry professionals pivoted to after completing their MBA from the Indian School of Business, Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad, Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta and Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore, LinkedIn data finds.
These are among the top B-schools from India on LinkedIn’s 2024 list of top MBA programmes globally. The data compares the industry LinkedIn members worked in directly before starting their MBA with the one directly after to analyse career pivots between 2019 and 2023.
“Most graduates opt for a business consulting career after their MBA in search of diverse exposure, skill development, high compensation and benefits,” says Jerry Jose, Digital Marketing Lead at ZS.
Pointing out that business consulting and services is not just a “today job”, Jose says, “Business consulting is definitely a ‘job of tomorrow’, as a lot of companies are hiring consultants these days to improve their processes and systems. Consultants can help organisations leverage digital technologies to improve their operations, increase efficiency, and gain a competitive advantage.”
